Backyard Oasis - Week 6

This week has been crazy. Literally noisy, busy, loud & crazy. Monday was day 35 & a whole crew of people came to finish the patio cover. Here is picture of our existing patio & it's ceiling:

They couldn't remove this part of the patio, but they re-surfaced the ceiling with cedar to match the rest of the patio cover:

We also had them re-stain the entire area. They stained it last week but we didn't get to choose the color & we thought it was too light. We had them stain it the same color as the shutters on the front of the house which is also the same color of our garage doors & will be the color of our new fence. It is a darker, richer color & I think it looks even better now!

Here is a look at the finished product:

I think it turned out beautifully & I cannot wait to spend a lot of time relaxing out there under our new extended patio.

On Tuesday, the stone guys came back out & started building the outdoor kitchen:

On Wednesday, the stone guys came back & started building the fireplace:

We also had some other visitors stop by. If you recall, I wrote about our house getting hit with a huge hail storm back in April. Luckily, we had enough damage to get a lot of exterior work done, including a new roof, new gutters, staining, painting, etc. It kind of worked out perfectly to have all of this done at the same time as our backyard done so we can officially say that all our exterior was done at the same time in 2014.

When I came home from the gym early Wednesday morning, I found this:

Roofing supplies. They showed up bright & early & were literally still up there working after dark that night:

They worked all day Wednesday & Thursday but they couldn't come today because it is raining :( But they are more than half way through. The new roof looks beautiful & I love the color of the shingle we chose but it has been excruciatingly loud between the stone guys & the roofers.

On Thursday, Greg delivered our outdoor kitchen appliances:

Most people order them directly from the pool builder, but this was one of Bryan's special projects & he spent a lot of time researching & shopping & he ended up buying them himself.

Yesterday & today the stone guys have continued to build the outdoor fireplace & kitchen. Even in the rain. Since the cold front blew in, it has been a lot cooler, but also soggy out there. Since the area is covered though, they have gotten a lot of work done:

As you can see, they have built a spot on the fireplace for our tv & the stone counter tops have been fitted also. They are actually building a stone back splash while I am typing. I cannot believe how much has gotten done this week. I can truly see everything clearly now & I am getting excited to add the finishing touches with patio furniture, decorations & landscaping!
