About a month ago, I decided I was ready to host our first big play date at our house since Sophie was born. And then I realized Easter was coming up so I thought it was only appropriate that we have an Easter Egg hunt for all of their friends. We hosted it this past Friday & we had so much fun! There were more kids here than I can count, but they are at a fun age where they really like to play with each other so the moms can visit :)
Of course I had to order the girls matching Easter shirts since this is their first Easter together & I wanted them to look cute for the party. I tried to get pictures of them before everyone came over, but the timing was not good. It was time for Sophie to eat & I was trying to wait & feed her right before the party so I wouldn't have to do it during the party. Thus the crying baby in my cute photo!
I wasn't too worried because I love taking pictures & I knew that I would get more throughout the morning & I did:
I asked everyone to bring one dozen stuffed eggs for the hunt & a snack to share. Luckily everyone signed up to bring so many goodies that I hardly had to provide anything. And the food was delicious as always :)
I gathered all of the kids Easter baskets on the dining room table while they ate & played & then we had a few moms who helped hide the eggs in the back yard.
We even had one mom who went above & beyond & created rabbit food for all of the kids to take home:
She used ice cream cones, dipped them in orange icing & sprinkles & then filled them with Easter trail mix & wrapped them in cellophane with green tissue paper sticking up at the top so it looked like carrots. Adorable!
Most of our guests are friends of Sadie's & I tried to snap pictures throughout the morning, but it was kind of crazy so I don't think I got everyone:
There were also 5 babies there who are new friends of Sophie's or younger siblings of Sadie's friends. Either way, I think I am going to have to start a new play group for these girls!
I didn't get very many pictures of the kids eating, but I did catch a glimpse of Sadie picnicking with Byron & he looks too cute in this picture! Don't they make a cute couple?!
But there was only so much food these kids could eat & so many toys to play with until they were all staring out the window ready to pounce on the eggs! I will admit that I was totally selfish & was having a blast watching Sadie pick up eggs so I didn't really get pictures of anyone else except for her :)
Last year we participated in so many egg hunts that by the time Easter rolled around, she was a pro. She would run & pick up as many eggs as possible. This year, she was very slow & very methodical. She had to stop & pick up each egg individually & inspect it to see what was inside. I was afraid she wasn't going to get many eggs because she was not in a hurry at all!
This isn't the best picture, but one of my friends took a picture of me with both of the girls while the hunt was still going:
Sophie may not have gotten to participate this year, but I tried to have her out in the middle of the action!
After the hunt, we tried to round up all the kids for a group photo, but I am positive we are missing several people in this shot:
Some of the kids were already inside, some were still running around in the grass, some are hidden behind others in the picture or some are like my daughter who was too busy digging for candy & bubbles in her basket to pay attention to the picture!
I will admit that it was a crazy morning & it is hard to host a play date this large at your house when you have an infant & a toddler, but I wouldn't have it any other way! That's just the way things roll at this season in our life & I already on plan on doing it again next year. Hopefully by then the babies will be big enough to participate!
