Water Baby Graduate

Sadie has been going to swimming lessons once a week for the past 2 months & today was officially her last class. I have to admit that I enjoyed going with her & I am really impressed at what she learned & how much she accomplished for her age. She can float on her back by herself & hang on to the side of the pool by her self. Granted, she can only do this for about 10 seconds, then she slips & falls into the water or she puts her mouth on the side & tries to eat the brick. But I am the most surprised by how well she does under water. Today, she went for 6 seconds & swam from her teacher to me by herself. Honestly, she isn't really swimming, more like floating, but she does flap her arms around & kick her legs like crazy. 6 seconds is the longest she has ever gone. And when she comes out of the water she never cries, coughs or spits water, which is a good sign - it means she is actually holding her breath. Unfortunately, summer lessons are over & winter lessons start soon. I think we are going to skip the beginning sessions since we can still practice at the pool while it's hot outside. But I am seriously considering re-enrolling her sometime this winter. I am afraid that if we wait until next spring or summer, she may forget everything & then we will have to start over. And I hear the older they get, the more afraid of the water they get.

Here is a picture with her teacher, Samantha:

And here is the ribbon she got when she graduated today:

I thought I would add it to her baby book with a picture of her swimming - Sadie thought it was another toy for her to chew!
