Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh-My!

Yesterday Sadie & I braved the heat for a fun day at the Fort Worth Zoo. I have a list of things I have wanted to do since she was born & this was one of them. My cousin Wade & his wife Jamie work at a Children's Home in New Mexico so they brought 7 kids from their cottage on vacation to DFW for the week. Wade's sister, Jennifer, lives in Fort Worth with her 2 little boys, so we got to meet up with everyone for the day.

Sadie got to hang out with a couple of animals - first, a gorilla:

I think it's funny they both have similar facial expressions :)

Next she got to hang by an alligator & she wasn't even scared!

She also saw a lot of animals that she has never seen before:

She caw cute animals

And scary ones

Either way, at least she is getting to see all of God's creations! I don't think she really saw the animals from far away, but she loved it when we were inside & she could see the aquariums full of fish, turtles, penguins, etc. I could tell she was trying to sit up & look.

She definitely had it made in the shade, literally. We got to the zoo when it opened at 10:00 & it was 91 degrees, but by the time we left 3 hours later it was 106 degrees. Luckily, she stayed in her stroller most of the time, hidden from the sun, just relaxing & sipping on my water bottle. As you can see, I did take her helmet off because it was way to hot out there. I truly believe this is the hottest she has ever been - notice her red cheeks & glowing skin?

I think everybody was hot & tired, including Jennifer & Reed:

At least the rest of the kids got to cool off with a slushy:

We had such a good time, even if it was hot outside & I am so grateful that I am able to stay home with sweet Sadie as we experience new things together!
