New Routine

The past few days have been some what uneventful, but it has been a little harder adjusting to a new routine. That is life without the stroller, nap nanny & swing :( Sadie used to be such a happy baby & we could leave her alone content, but now I have to spend a lot more time with her to keep her happy. Not that I mind - she is cute as a button, but she definitely cries & gets more upset these days. We are trying our hardest to have all of her play time & sleep time on her stomach or on her right side & that's the hard part. She really wants to be on her back. I have tried to let her cry it out but we are still adjusting. We let her cry until she was used to the swing, nap nanny, etc. & she never went past 15 minutes & usually she calmed herself down fairly quickly & would be happy again. Not so much on her tummy & side! Therefore I have resorted to giving her the pacifier more that I would like - just to calm her down. I also use whatever tricks I can come up with - toys, TV, Baby Einstein videos, Daisy, etc. to get her to look to her right. And I have been using the front carrier for all of her walks - no more stroller. Here is a snapshot of her sitting in her bumbo the other day:

She got a toy for Christmas that is really too big for her to play with, but it lights up & plays music so I was able to get her to turn the right way to look at it.

Here is another favorite of hers:

She has gotten really good about playing with these, so we have them attached everywhere - on her play mat, on her car seat, etc. It is the perfect size for her little fingers to grasp. You can see them hanging on the picture below:

All that playing makes her tired. I have adjusted my routine for her sleeping habits as well. She takes a 1 hour morning nap that I now make her take on her tummy. This usually goes OK but I can't get her to stay in this position for longer than an hour. * Quick side note - I have seen her roll over from her tummy to her back twice now & this is huge! I have been working on her rolling & was hoping to have her doing it by 4 months, so maybe we are on track. Or maybe it was a fluke - guess we'll see!* Her afternoon nap she takes upstairs in her crib on her right side. We just borrowed a positioner from our friend Jenny & it helps prop her up on her side where she can't roll over. It makes me a little nervous because I don't like anything being in the crib with her, but she only sleeps about 3 hours in the afternoon & since I am awake I watch her on the monitor. At night I start her off to sleep like this, but she moves a lot at night & every time I check on her she is in a different position. Most of the time she is at the opposite end of the crib turned around 360 degrees. I really don't know how she does it - especially since we still swaddle her!

Today we went to her second therapy session & she did really good. Her Physical Therapist's name is Lindsay & as you can see, she really enjoys working with Sadie. She pushes her really hard but plays with her at the same time. 30 minutes is about all she can handle & then she is wiped out. It's also good for me because it a quick refresher course for what I should be practicing with her at home.
