Bryan had a doctor appointment yesterday morning & his Oncologist approved him for chemo again. He had a nice 3 week break (thanks to his hospital visit) so he was feeling pretty good - well rested & strong. He made it through the day pretty good - he didn't eat (but I have come to learn that he does not like to eat while he is getting treatment) & as usual his friend Josh came to visit us during his lunch break. The past couple of chemo sessions Bryan has been pretty tired & hasn't felt well, but yesterday he was a trooper. He sat up the whole time, was on his computer at least half the day & I think he talked non-stop. I have to admit that he is pretty good at cheering up the other patients because he has a dynamic personality & likes to talk to anyone :)
They did change his chemo protocol & stopped one of his drugs. He has been having severe problems with neuropathy so we hope by eliminating this one drug, he will be able to manage that problem a little better. For those who have seen him lately, you probably know what I am talking about. His feet have been killing him, especially the toes. I can't imagine what it feels like exactly, but he tells me it's like a burning/tingling sensation. All I know is that he has had a hard time walking around lately & he hasn't gotten much sleep at night. Hopefully things will improve without the chemo drug.
I have been trying to snap a picture of everyone who helps us at the Cancer Center & this week I took pictures of Maleka. She always has the biggest smile on her face & is probably one of the happiest people who work there. We always enjoy visiting with her & she goes out of her way to sneak in to our room & sometimes she has a little treat for us, like candy or something. She is really excited about our baby so we talk about that a lot. I don't know what her exact title is, but basically she comes in the room every time to take Bryan's blood (which happens at least 3-4 times a week). Luckily, she just pricks him in the finger so it doesn't hurt too much. Then she comes back a few minutes later with his blood counts. Here are pictures from yesterday when she was doing Bryan's CBC:
You will notice he is actually smiling in these pictures - he wasn't a few months ago when this process got started, but he is a lot more comfortable at all of his appointments these days :)
Just caught up on you guys...it has been a bit since I checked in. You guys are constantly in my prayers! So excited about the baby girl! Love you guys! XOXO
