Lime is for Lymphoma

I realized I haven't posted about Bryan in a while, so I thought I would give a quick update. He got his first chemo treatment 2 weeks ago & so far he is doing ok. The first few days after the treatment were rough, but he took a lot of medicine that helped counter balance the side effects. Mostly, he was really tired so he slept a lot. He has had a few other side effects, but they have been minor so far. He went in for a check-up last Wednesday and unfortunately his blood counts had already gone down below normal. So, he continued to go in every day to continue having his blood counts monitored. They actually started coming up and were within the normal range, but then yesterday they went down again so he got his first official shot to help boost his system. We have to have his blood counts high enough so he can take his next round of chemotherapy, which is tomorrow.

In other news, Bryan has started a new fashion statment these days:

A lime green bracelet that says "Say it, Fight it, Cure it!" When my Dad had cancer years ago, he gave everyone bracelets that represented his cancer & everyone wore them until he finished his treatments. Therefore, when Bryan got diagnosed he thought of the bracelets right away. We looked it up on the Internet & every cancer has a color - lime green represents Lymphoma. We ordered a ton of bracelets & have been passing them out to family & friends. Bryan & I put ours on the day we got it & have vowed not to take it off until the day he is officially cancer free! And Bryan has gone a step farther by saying that we are going to have a party & celebrate when that time comes & everyone will bring a pair of scissors & we will cut off our bracelets together!

In honor of Bryan's new fashion statement, I took a few pictures this weekend while we were with his family:

This is Robert, Bryan's Dad - he even wore his bracelet while he was preaching on Sunday morning!

Even the ladies who were washing dishes after Sunday lunch had their bracelets on! This is Nanny, Bryan's Grandmother & Sherry, Bryan's Mom.

Even his Aunt Linda had her bracelet on even though she had to take off her shoes after a long Mother's Day celebration!

See - everyone's doing it! If you would like to wear a band in honor of Bryan, please let me know as I have a whole bag that I am passing out. Or you can visit http://www.choosehope.com

  2. Louis and I will need bracelets. If you can drop a couple in an envelope for us, we'll wear them until we get the good news. We continue to pray for Bryan's healing and recovery and Shaye's strength as she supports him through this journey. Love, Louis and Dianna
