Back in August, Bryan's parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They went on a 2-week cruise & were gone on their actual day plus school had just started so everyone was busy, but that didn't mean we didn't celebrate. We waited until the Thanksgiving holiday to throw them a party so everyone could be here, specifically Bryan's brother & his family from Colorado. I had been planning for the past month & was so excited it was finally here! I decided to go with a golden theme & we threw the party at our house:
Don't mind the tv in the background - we had the Texas game on before everyone got there but then we turned on a play list my sister-in-law created for the event with some of their favorite songs from their past 50 years together.
For dinner, I wanted to do something different. The party was the weekend before Thanksgiving so I knew everyone would be cooking & eating all week, so I decided to have a grazing table set up on our kitchen island:
The company I hired did an amazing job! It took them about 2 hours to set up but the presentation was beautiful! Besides charcuterie, we had chicken salad sandwiches, deviled eggs, pasta salad & shrimp cocktail. She even set up a beverage bar. It was the perfect way to graze all night while everyone visited instead of having a more formal sit-down meal.
When his parents arrived, we took a few family pictures outside with the sign since they were surprised:
My parents drove up to come to the party but other than that, it was mostly family from their side. Obviously these 2 are blessed to be surrounded by so many loved ones:
I tried to take lots of candid pictures through the evening of all of our guests:
I know, it was the weekend before Thanksgiving, but yes, I already had the house decorated for Christmas! We always decorate before Christmas because we never host but honestly, we never host for Christmas either, so I was excited to show off the house:
Towards the end of the night, we all stopped to watch a slideshow of the 2 of them throughout the past 50 years:
And then I had a cake to re-create their wedding day:
It was truly a special night & I am so glad so many could come help us celebrate their remarkable marriage. They are a true example for all of us! Congratulations Robert & Sherry!
