8th Grade Cross Country

This fall is flying by & I don't think I've kept up very well on our blog. Volleyball wrapped up at the end of October while cross country simultaneously started at the same time. It is a short season, but they finished tonight. There were 3 regular meets the last 3 Wednesdays & the weather couldn't have been better this season:

Their first 3 meets were at different schools & we always see lots of friends along the way. I love it whenever we get pictures from friends who see her on the course:

That's our friend Adalyn running beside her in the yellow penny:

This is one of my favorite pictures as she sprints towards the finish line:

Lots of celebrating when the race is actually over:

because this is the picture I found on her phone on her way to their first meet:

Ha ha! I don't know if any of them really love to run, but they all do it for conditioning. Most of them are basketball or soccer players.

Tonight they had their last meet, which was the FISD district meet at Warren Sports Complex. It was a little over 2 miles & definitely more of a cross country course with a few hills. Beautiful day but I think we broke a record for heat this late in November. It was 86. Sadie showed up ready to run with 180 of her peers:

Yep, that's just 8th grade girls. There were 18 schools & each school could bring their top 10. Somehow, she made it through the crowd, sprinted at the end & got 21st place:

I think she was disappointed she didn't crack the top 20, but still 21 out of 180?! I think that is amazing! She definitely beat her place & time from last year. Afterwards, she had fun celebrating with friends from other schools & then we stayed to watch the boy's race:

So proud of her & all that she gives. Can you imagine going to cross country practice after school, then straight to basketball tryouts followed by club soccer practice that night?! I am exhausted just thinking about it. All of these girls did amazing & I am excited another sport wrapped up so we can move on to the next - basketball, here we come!
