March is officially here which means our weekends are full of spring sports, even if the weather does not want to cooperate! Friday afternoon both of the girls had soccer practice & both were cancelled because another cold front blew in. Instead we went to Sadie's basketball practice because it was indoors. Thank goodness! I love indoor sports :)
The next morning we were up early & ready to go. Sophie had her spring pictures & a soccer game & since there wasn't any rain outside, the fields were open:
Poor girls - it was freezing cold & early so they did not want to be out there for this. But they stripped off their cold weather gear & looked great for their pictures:
Don't they look good?! After pictures we headed to the field & got them all warmed up before the game started:
You can tell from this picture that it was still dry at this point. By half time, that had changed & it was a heavy mist/sprinkle the rest of the game, which made it even more miserable. They lost their first game 8-6 but they played great & Sophie scored 2 goals. So proud of her & the rest of her Twinkle Toe team!
Next up, we went to a birthday party between games. It was supposed to be an indoor/outdoor unicorn party but who knew the weather wouldn't want to cooperate in March. Sadie didn't care - she was excited to ride the unicorn, even in the cold rain:
Sophie could care less. She was inside trying to stay warm while getting her face painted:
Sadie wanted her face painted also but she had soccer pictures & a game after the party, so we let her get a little soccer ball on her face:
She was so proud of it & excited for her first Sweet Cleat game but apparently the weather got too bad so they cancelled all of the afternoon games. Boo. No soccer pictures or game for her. But that was ok because she also had a basketball game at the same time that we were going to skip. Thankfully I had packed for everything just in case so we switched gears & went inside for that. Her poor soccer ball didn't last too long inside with as much as that girl sweats:
This was their first game of the spring season & they looked awesome. In fact, they won 28-0 & Sadie scored 8. Go Shooting Stars!
Finally we cleaned up & headed out for a social with her club soccer team. We met for dinner & then headed to the Dallas Sidekicks indoor soccer game:
We have been to FC Dallas several times but never an indoor game like this. Our team was invited to come early & go down on the field with the players before the game so they decided to wear they team hoodies:
Even Coach Casey came:
Sophie & Crosby had fun running around also by the field:
Then it was time to line up. They blew up the tunnel & all of the players came out. They high fived everyone & then paired up with a girl to walk out:
Don't know if you can see, but Sadie was the very first girl & she got to walk out with the goalie:
Once she walked out, I quickly ran around to the stands to try & get pictures of them out on the field & to my surprise, when I came out I saw Sophie! The last player in the tunnel saw her, picked her up & carried her all over the field!
Sadie was shocked when she saw her! They got to stay down there through the opening ceremonies:
Finally we headed up to our seats in the stands & had fun watching the game. The girls cheered, danced & got to have Dippin Dots:
We ended up having a lot of fun with her new team! It was a great way to get to know some of the other families & we had a blast watching the game. And it was indoors! Unfortunately, another cold front blew in yesterday so we hibernated. Last night was the coldest night of the year but it is supposed to slowly warm up every day this week so I am hoping this is the last big cold front we have. We are ready for spring!
