Life Lately

Unfortunately, this week turned out a little differently than I had planned. We had talked about having people over for Super Bowl on Sunday night, but I had already had planned a big Valentine's party at our house today & I didn't really want to entertain twice this week. So we decided to have a family super bowl party instead & it was perfect. I made an appetizer, a dip & Bryan ordered pizza. It was the perfect lazy evening for the 4 of us & my favorite moment of the night was watching the girls dance during the half time show:

Sadie was trying to hold up a lighter/cell phone like she saw everyone doing on tv! We don't use the media room all the time, but it's perfect for night's like these. Bryan & I sat at the bar & ate while they had a picnic on the floor. I should have known something was wrong because I felt pretty weak & tired all day.

On Tuesday, I had a the best day with my girlfriends. We went & saw a movie at the theater (while the kids were at school) followed by lunch. And then I had bunco that night. I felt horrible that day, but thought it was just allergies. The girls got a surprise Valentine's package in the mail from Mimi & Doc & that made their day:

Wednesday morning, I woke up & felt horrible. I ran fever all night, had the WORST headache & could barely lift my head off the pillow. Some how I dragged myself out of bed & the girls helped me deliver all of our goodies to the Rhea Lana consignment sale:

This is the first year I took the girls with me. I usually go when they are at school, but I thought it would be good for them to see exactly what I do with their stuff. We donate items all the time, but now they understand how I sale some of them.

I felt worse as the day went on, so after lunch I made a doctor appointment. Bryan was gone all day & I was hesitant to bring the girls with me to the doctor (since they are healthy!) so I dropped them off at Jamie's house to play:

Thank goodness they didn't go with me because I tested positive for the flu :( And for all of those wondering, no, I did not have the flu shot. The girls have but the only time I have gotten it was when I was pregnant. But they told me at the doctor's office that most patients coming in who have the flu did get the shot, so it didn't really matter. Lucky for me we caught it early so I was able to start Tamiflu, but my body did not like it & it caused me to vomit. Of course the medicine made it worse! So let's just say I have spent the past 3 days in bed. I was able to help the girls get ready for school yesterday:

Bryan dropped them off & then I had a friend pick them up & took Sophie to Soccer Shots. Literally, I think that was the very first time I have ever laid at home in bed watching tv all day while they were in school! Let's just say I am bored laying around & have caught up on all of my tv shows!

So this morning was supposed to be our big Valentine party. I had already bought everything & decorated & was excited to have our friends over because this will be the last time Sadie will be home since she starts kindergarten next year. But unfortunately, I decided to cancel it. Even though I feel better, I still have a slight headache & didn't want to spread my germs to anyone else. But I had some other friends pick up the girls for lunch at Chick Fil A & a play date at the park. What would I do without such a great network of friends?!

And I couldn't have made it this week without my husband, who is a great dad & really picks up the slack when I need help. Just for grins, I will throw in another picture of him because one of his friends just sent me these the other day from the trip to DC:
