Sadie's First Dance Class

I think I have mentioned on here that now that Sadie is 3, we are trying to let her explore different extracurricular activities to see what she likes & what she is good at. This spring we are doing soccer & basketball. Plus swimming, I guess. She has been going to swimming once a week since she was 6 months old. I had thought about putting her in dance or gymnastics this summer, since sports aren't really being played in the summer. She hasn't really asked to go to dance or gymnastics, but two of her friends, Adalyn & Brooklyn go to dance every Sunday afternoon & their class had a friends & family promotion last weekend. Since it was free, I thought it would be a good time for Sadie to try it. I don't think she had a clue what I was really talking about until we got there & then she was in heaven. They spent the first 20 minutes doing ballet:

I realize they aren't the best quality but it was a private room with only a small window for the moms to peep through so the pictures have a glare from the glass. Sadie was a little shy for the first few minutes & walked to the door crying. I think she didn't know what she was doing in this strange place with this strange teacher & she didn't know where I was. Once I showed her the little window, she walked right in & got back to business:

I was very impressed. She listened to the teacher pretty good & did better than I expected.  It probably helped that she was there with friends. I never took dance classes growing up so everything was foreign to me.

The next 20 minutes they did tap:

I was not prepared for dance class at all because I did not have a leotard or tap shoes, but thankfully my friend Emily hooked us up with both. Thanks Emily for inviting Sadie to class & for letting us borrow an appropriate outfit. She may have worn that outfit around this house this week as she practiced her dance moves :) She has been pretty excited about dance all week. Maybe we can join the girls when things slow down this summer:
