A Low Key Valentine's Day......

Yesterday Bryan had to fly out of town for the day, so I was by myself at home with the girls. We had a nice morning because we went to the Frisco Senior Center to deliver Valentine's & both of my girls really put a lot of smiles on every one's faces :) Sadie was really shy at first but after being there for an hour, she was running around the place like she owned it & didn't want to leave!

On our way home we stopped by Cake Bites because that is one of Bryan's favorite places to get dessert in town. I thought about baking something, but then I knew we would have leftovers around the house & I am still trying to lose my baby weight & figured having a small cake ball wouldn't hurt me too bad:

When we got home, Sadie & I had craft time while Sophie napped. We decided to make Dad a home made Valentine so I cut out the hearts while Sadie colored & strategically placed the foam hearts in their specific location:

While both of the girls napped, I started setting up the table for dinner. This isn't the finished result, but wanted to show off my cute Valentine dinner set. Last year I bought it at Target & thank goodness I bought a plate for me & Bryan, a girl plate for Sadie & I even bought 1 extra girl & boy plate because I knew we would have another kid eventually, but I didn't know what the sex would be:

Sadie gets so excited eating on her special holiday plates. I have one for every occasion, but this is probably the only one that she has a matching sippy cup with a straw!

I also set up Sadie's Valentine present while she was sleeping:

You probably know by reading my blog that I am very frugal sometimes, so instead of buying her a lot of Valentine knick knacks that she really doesn't need, I decided to get her a gift that she did need & that would be a big girl potty! I know I have talked about it slightly, but Sadie has really been ready to potty train since before Sophie was born. She has shown every symptom in the book but we have really tried to hold off as long as possible since we had a newborn in the house. Luckily we switched her to pull ups & that has helped slightly, but we still aren't ready to commit yet. We let her practice on the big toilet, but honestly, it's too big for her. I know she will have to go on it eventually, but we have decided it's not practical for potty training. She is still kind of short & not a good climber, so I was trying to teach her how to climb up on the toilet by herself & she couldn't do it. She is fine when I pick her up & place her up there, but when we go into potty boot camp, that's not going to cut it. And yes, for those wondering, we plan on doing a potty boot camp with her but quite honestly we haven't had the time. We technically could have done it this weekend, but we are going out of town before the end of the month, so we decided to wait until we get back. I cannot imagine trying to take her to the restroom in the airport & on the airplane when she is a newbie. For now, we are going to let her continue to practice on her own toilet & then we will move forward in March.

The good news - Sadie doesn't care either way. She thought this Minnie Mouse toilet was a toy!

She was so excited to open a gift. I also gave her a book that's about a big girl going potty by herself! We'll see if that helps. It does have a ton of stickers in the back, so I'm sure she will like that.

She helped Bryan put it together & then she got to try it out:

You probably won't hear much about our experiment or see any more pictures until we really try to potty train in March, but at least we have all of the equipment & we have done our research so hopefully we are prepared. Or as prepared as we can be :( Please let me know if you have any suggestions to help us in this daunting process!

  1. The most genius idea I ever got from a fellow mom right before we started with Addy was if you ever have to go somewhere that you absolutely do not want to risk a messy accident, put their panties on and then a pull up over them. It gives the yucky wet sensation but without the mess! :) Good luck, I bet she will get it in no time!
