Granny's Memorial

Back in October, I wrote about my other grandmother when she passed away. She was my dad's mom & she also passed very suddenly & unexpectedly. My Granny never wanted a funeral & her body was donated, however, my family really wanted to have her a memorial service, but they waited until after the holidays. Unfortunately, that service was planned for Saturday - 2 days after my other grandmother's funeral. Needless to say, it was a very stressful week for all of my family who had to travel to both of them, especially for my parents, since they planned both of them. Luckily for us, my Granny's memorial service was in the Fort Worth area, which was only an hour from our house. This time, we were able to attend since it was an easier drive. And since it was inside, we just kept Sophie in her car seat, covered by a blanket, away from everyone. She is still in that sleepy phase so she pretty much napped the entire time we were there which made it easier for me to enjoy myself. First off, it freed up time for me to be able to visit, but I also didn't have to worry because since she wasn't exposed, no one was touching her or spreading germs :)

I hate to admit it, but some of the extended family on this side I hadn't seen in years. And I'm not exaggerating when I say years - Bryan & I have been married for almost 10 years & most of the family he had never met. My Granny would have loved it - it was the family reunion she always wanted to have. There were more people there than we expected & I enjoyed getting to visit with all of them. My father in law led the service & my mother in law helped set up the reception afterwards & the service was at the church my father in law preaches at. We enjoyed hearing every one's stories about Granny & I personally enjoyed watching all of the kids run around playing with each other. In fact, we were able to snap a picture of all of Granny's grand kids & great grand kids:

My sister & I had 2 cousins - HD & Chase & between all of us there are 8 great grand children. Unfortunately, Granny never got to meet the 2 youngest - Grace & Sophie, but I am sure she was smiling at us on Saturday watching all of us back together again!
