When I joined Frisco Women's League last year, I learned about this awesome initiative that was started by a few moms here in Frisco. Their vision was to build a park that was an all inclusive play adventure for every child.
I immediately became excited because when my sister comes to visit I would love to take Sadie & her kids to this park where all 4 of our kids can play together! The Frisco Women's League were major sponsors & last year all of the funds raised from their annual mother/daughter tea went to support the park. Since I first learned about the park, I have been keeping up with it through their website & publicity from the news, etc.
After years of planning, fundraising & organizing, the park is finally being built! The park is being built by the City of Frisco & local volunteers. In fact, they are working almost round the clock with 200 volunteers per shift for 10 days straight.
Bryan & I volunteered to work last Saturday & let me tell you, it was one of the hardest things I have ever done! Talk about physical labor - I came home exhausted & sunburned!
And I was considered unskilled :) Bryan on the other hand was a crew leader:
To be honest, I have never participated in anything like this before. When we first showed up, it was kind of overwhelming because there were so many people running around - it almost felt like we were on that TV show Extreme Makeover Home Edition! But I left feeling proud that we helped in a small way contribute to such an amazing endeavor. I look forward to this summer when Natalie brings the kids to visit & we can experience this park with my nephew, Max!
