Bright Lights, Big City

While we were in NY, we got to meet up with a few of Bryan's friends/former co-workers. He has travelled her business off & on through the years & a few past co-workers he became friends with & they have kept in touch. First we met up with Lily & Harry. They took us to an awesome Italian market where we had home made pasta & pizza.

As you can see, Sadie loved the company - especially Harry! I think she's a little flirt :)

We also went to dinner with the Olsen family - Randy, Kristin & Tatum. Tatum is 2 1/2 so it was fun for Sadie to have someone to play with. They took us to an Italian restaurant also that was family style. It makes the experience much more fun when you have locals that know where to take you that aren't tourist traps!

But we did sneak into one tourist joint that had been on my list:

I have always wanted to go to Serendipity! I'm sure you have seen it in movies or heard celebrities talk about it. For those who don't know, it is one of the original ice cream parlors in NY & they are known for the quaint location, eccentric decor & their frozen hot chocolate!

Isn't it adorable? Totally girly - my kind of place :) I tried to take Sadie there for lunch one day, but there was a 2 1/2 hour wait. So our friend Kristin went there before dinner & put our name down on the list. On Saturday night it was a 4 hour wait! After dinner we came back for dessert & were able to finally get in after I bribed the doorman :) Bryan taught me well! As you can see, it was worth the hassle:

We all had a good time, even Sadie!

She may not have liked her birthday cake last week, but she loved ice cream! And she had fun hanging out with Tatum:

Kristin was so nice that she even volunteered to watch Sadie one night so Bryan & I could go out on a date. Sadie had a blast hanging out at their apartment because Tatum had all sorts of new toys that she got to play with!

Lily made dinner reservations for us in the Meat Packing District at this seafood restaurant. I loved it - in fact, it was probably my favorite meal of the week, besides Serendipity of course!

Obviously we enjoyed a quiet meal just the 2 of us because this is one of those restaurants you definitely don't take children to!

Afterwards, we went to

to see the Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes.

Poor Bryan wanted to go see a Broadway show, but I was adamant about going to see this. How can you go to NY the week before Christmas & not see the world famous Rockettes?

Finally, we strolled to Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree one more time. It really is much more magical at night!

Going to New York at Christmas was a once in a lifetime experience that I wish everyone could do. There's something about the hustle & bustle of the city with Christmas music playing everywhere & lights twinkling around every corner - there's no other place like it! Thank you Bryan for planning such a wonderful trip for your girls - we love you & can't wait to spend Christmas with you!
