After an intense month of soccer in July, Coach T gave Sadie's team a week off to recover & celebrate from their Lake Highlands qualifying win but then it was back to practice as normal. Their league games officially start next weekend, but we played one last summer tournament last weekend & boy was it exhausting & exciting all at the same time! Most of the siblings were there since normal fall activities haven't started back up yet. At one point there were 8 kids playing Uno under the tent:
It's definitely a perk that most of the siblings just happen to be her same age! It was so hot that everyone brought out their tents this weekend. We usually don't do this for a single game but it is amazing the difference it makes when you are sitting outside all day in 100 degree weather. Welcome to tent city:
The majority of these families we have been playing with for over 2 years so we really do get a long when we spend this much time together. Somehow the sun & the heat never bother the girls while they are playing. I guess they are resilient & just get used to it. They played phenomenal all weekend & won their first 3 games easily, securing them an early spot in the semi championship. Now that game was years in the making. I won't go into all of the details but let's just say it is a rival team who used to be a part of the Renegades family but recently left. I don't know how we have never played them before & thank goodness we haven't because it was a tough game. We had some hard calls made against us & even though we were winning most of the game, they gave them a goal at the end to tie it 3-3. We went in to double over time, 5 additional minutes each & no one scored so it came down to penalty kicks. Each team got 5 kicks each, they scored 1 & we scored 2! Literally it was most excited our team has ever been - players & parents! You would have thought it was the championship game:
Unfortunately, that game ran so long that the girls barely had a break before the championship game. We had a few parents run to the store & picked up cheesesticks, fruit, nuts, power bars, etc. for them to have a quick dinner/snack before their next game. So they had a quick picnic before it was time to play again:
So unbelievably proud of these girls & can't wait to see how we do in D1 this fall!
