Parent Camp 2021, Rosewood Mayakoba

I am slowly catching up on my blog since June was a busy month for us! After we dropped the girls off at camp, Bryan & I jumped on a flight to Mexico for what we call parent camp! I don't know how we lucked out but we even got bumped to first class:

Not a bad way to start our trip! We knew we wanted a couples get away since both of the girls were at camp & Bryan immediately wanted to go back to:

You fly into Cancun but the resort is in Riviera Maya. They play the PGA championship here, which is the main reason Bryan wanted to come back. We stayed here 3 years ago with the girls & they absolutely loved it, mostly for the kids club, but we always knew it was a place we wanted to come back without them. It is a private, gated community with the golf course, tennis center, 4 resorts all set around the beach & lagoons. We stayed at the exact same property because it is literally one of the best places we have ever stayed so I want to make sure I give them all of the credit:

Just like last time, they took us to our villa via a boat:

I believe there are 120 villas & they are all free standing & separate located throughout the property with the lagoon & the jungle, so there is lots of privacy. Our villa was amazing. Here is the view coming straight from the boat:

Just like last time, they had a spread set out for our arrival, including apple juice for me & everything was gluten free! Amazing how they pay attention to the details:

But my favorite part?! The outdoor shower!!! Again, they have a large bathroom, with a huge tub, walk in shower & an outdoor shower. I love the outdoor shower so much that I never even used the shower or tub inside:

Another favorite from this resort are the bicycles. Since the resort is spread out, they give every villa their own bicycles so you can walk or ride everywhere. They also have golf carts & we had to use those last time since we had the girls, but we rode a lot this time:

See how pretty it is?! That was my view riding from our villa to the beach.

Every morning we would exercise together:

That was the only place we had to wear our masks, in the gym, if others were in there with us. This morning we had the gym to ourselves. One morning I left our property & ran all through Mayakoba to the other properties. I had to stop once for iguana crossing:

One morning we biked all through the community. I took a class on our last morning there & it was my favorite:

I tried the Float HIIT & it was awesome! I had never done a float class before, but I had heard of them. They are usually for pilates or yoga but I love HIIT classes so I was determined to give it a try.

After our morning workout, we headed to brunch every single morning:

That's always another favorite from vacation because I love big breakfasts & this resort went above & beyond to accommodate my gluten allergy. They had the best orange bread, which I would have a slice of every morning with a banana, but look at my beautiful gf pancakes:

Eventually we would make our way to the pool. Last time we were here they only had 2 pools, the lagoon pool & the beach pool so we spent all of our time at the beach pool since it was by the beach & by the kids club. This time, they added an adult pool so we spent most of our time there:

Bryan napped a lot, I read a lot. Ha!

I take that back, he did golf twice. One afternoon & one early morning:

We enjoyed lots of cold beverages. Bryan loved all of the fruit juices, especially the watermelon juice. I had an apple juice, strawberry daiquiri & popsicles every single day! Literally, they had fresh fruit popsicles that they would pass out at the pool every afternoon & they were so good & melted so fast, that I never got a picture:

I mean seriously, I would go back here just for the culinary experience again! Every night we enjoyed a nice, late dinner. I mean late for us, like 7:30 - 8:00, which with the kids is usually 6:00 - 7:00. We walked to dinner most nights & enjoyed watching the sun set:

The pools were even pretty at night when we were enjoying our late night dinner & drinks:

Our favorite dinner was:

The Ceiba Dinner! We really wanted to do this last time but we couldn't with the girls:

They have a beautiful garden in the middle of the property where they host this dinner twice a week. They have it set up with a table for 20 so it is very intimate:

It started right before sunset so we could enjoy the evening, have drinks & listen to live music. Eventually we were seated at assigned seats & we had the best time getting to know all of the couples around us. Literally, we were there for about 4 hours! I lost count how many courses we had but at least 5? Everything was served family style & it was 100% fresh, organic, gluten free & from the ocean or their garden. I didn't take any pictures of the food because we were enjoying the meal & the company so much! But I did take a few pictures before the night was over:

Bryan had told them we were celebrating my 40th birthday since we never really got to celebrate last year & they surprised me with a song & dessert as well:

Our last night there, we went to the sushi/Japanese restaurant. I specifically remember this restaurant because last time we had an appetizer there, the rock shrimp, that was amazing. We were telling our butler how great it was but I couldn't have it this time since I am gluten free so she contacted the chef & he created a separate dish just for me where the shrimp was crusted in potato flour. They surprised us with it when we got there & I was beyond surprised:

Most of the desserts at all of their restaurants were not gluten free, however, they had a gf brownie that they served with marshmallow ice cream on their children's menu. It was so good that I may have ordered it 3 times that week! Thank goodness Sadie wasn't there or I would have had to share it with her. Ha!

Besides our amazing food, we enjoyed our last sunset:

It was literally the best way to end our trip. The weather was perfect, the food was amazing & we got to spend some uninterrupted time together without the girls:

Our only complaint for the week was the beach. I feel like every single time I go to Mexico they have seaweed & their beaches aren't that pretty anyway, but seriously, this was over the top, ridiculous. The worst seaweed I have ever seen in my life:

It was so bad, we spent our last day at the lagoon pool because I didn't want to see it or smell it. Thankfully this is one of those trips where you aren't really going for the beach or seeing it much because you are staying in a jungle off the lagoon. I have a feeling this will not be our last trip here, in fact, Bryan has already made a reservation for parent camp next year when the girls go back to Sky Ranch. Adios until then!
