Sleepovers

Since the girls are virtual for the first few weeks of school, our district has given the kids Fridays off until we start back to school in person. The teachers are using it as development days so they can prepare their virtual lessons for the next week, I used it as a day to catch up! Last Thursday, the girls went to their grandparent's house to spend the night so of course they got spoiled on Friday. They went to Mountasia to play games, putt putt, ride go karts & bumper boats:

They also went to the park to play & feed the ducks:

Clearly they had a great time! I am sure they had more fun than the errands & chores I tried to get done while they weren't at home.

The next night, we flipped the switch & had a sleepover at our house. Sadie got to have her first official sleepover with a friend on the last day of kindergarten so Sophie has been talking about it since then. Unfortunately, with Covid, she did not get to do that, so we finally made it happen. Kate came over that afternoon & the girls swam while we cooked out dinner:

When they were finished outside, they cleaned up & spent the rest of the evening in the media room playing & watching movies:

Somehow these girls surprised us & stayed up until midnight! Sadie had already crashed & I really didn't think they could do it, but they were so excited, they wanted me to take a picture of them at midnight while they were in bed so we could show everyone:

The next morning, we baked home made gluten free cinnamon sugar donuts:

They turned out really good! I am so glad we are discovering new recipes that still taste "normal" when we have friends over! And I am so glad we were able to let Sophie have her first sleepover. They were so excited & they did great! I know our weekends will get a bit crazy after Labor Day when our fall sports season starts up, so it was the perfect weekend to let the girls stay up late & enjoy some extra time with family & friends.
