Texans Cheer Camp

I can't remember if I have talked about this yet, but this fall both of the girls are trying something new. Sophie has always been our girlie girl & has done dance for the past 2 years but this year she is old enough for cheerleading. Not competitive cheerleading but recreational cheerleading for our pee wee football league. My friend Jamie is coaching & I am helping her out but she has done most of the work. She went to the cheer draft, designed all of their uniforms & came up with all of the cheers. It is a bit ridiculous how much goes into cheer for 5 year old girls but Sophie is loving every minute:

As you can see, her team is the Texans. You may think I am exagerating, but what other recreational sport requires you to have matching shoes, practice uniforms, bows, backpacks, water bottles & more. Literally Sadie's club soccer team doesn't even go to that extreme! But she does look pretty cute:

Last weekend we had a mini cheer camp for the girls & tried to teach them the basics - cheer motions, jumps, spirit & a few basic chants. We quickly learned 2 hours is a long time for these girls - thank goodness we took a snack break:

But they all had fun & learned quite a bit. I'm so glad we were able to start this squad with friends. It all started with Sophie & Hayden but we quickly found friends from both of our schools to fill the rest of our team. Including Sophie's new BFF at Pink, Kate:

Not only do they play soccer together & now do cheer together, but they also got put in the same class at kindergarten!

Even though I am more of a soccer mom than a dance mom, I am still excited to help out since Sophie loves it so much:

The league only lasts 8 weeks in the fall so I am curious to see when it is over if she will want to go back to gymnastics so she can start learning more tumbling for cheer or if she will want to go back to dance. Either way, I know it will be a fun fall season with these cuties:
