It started out as a busy weekend & then today has been relaxing. Friday morning we all got up early & headed to Sadie's school for their first GMP of the year:
It was so cute seeing how quiet & scared the kindergarteners were & then seeing how confident Sadie & all of her 1st grade friends were!
We also picked up Sonic (per Sadie's request) & had our first lunch with her at school:
Side note - Sadie broke her glasses the night before. I don't know how we lucked out but when I took her frames in, they told us she had about 2 weeks left of her warranty & would get a new pair absolutely free. Thank goodness! In the meantime, she has to wear her sports goggles until her new ones come in.
After this, Bryan & I headed straight to the airport for a quick weekend get away while the girls spent the weekend with their grandparents. Bryan's mom came over & spent the afternoon with Sophie until they picked Sadie up from school. Apparently they went to the mall & she had fun shopping in the Disney store:
After they got Sadie from school, they went to their house for the weekend & were spoiled at Chuck E Cheese for dinner that night:
The next day I packed their Longhorn gear since it was the first football game of the season:
and then they headed to a cooking birthday party:
From what I hear, they had a great weekend together. And I'm glad they got to spend some time at their house & go to church with them since they area usually so busy at home. When we flew in Sunday afternoon, we picked them up & then tried a new restaurant where they had some amazing milk shakes - we might have ordered several flavors so we could all try them:
Bryan & I specifically flew home early so we could spend today with them. We had thought about swimming & cooking out, but the weather didn't quite cooperate. We still grilled, but it was definitely not swimming weather. Luckily it was cloudy most of the morning & only a misty rain so we decided to venture out & run/scooter/ride bikes on the trails & play at the neighborhood playground. Sophie & I had a great time, but we got separated from Sadie & Bryan and they got caught in the rain & it appears Sadie wiped out in the mud:
Luckily she didn't get hurt, but she was worried that her new Bucee shirt & her tennis shoes were muddy :( As they were making their way home, it really started raining even harder so when they got back, Bryan decided to clean her off with the water hose. After all, it was already raining & they were already soaking wet!
So the only logical thing is to strip down, leave the wet clothes outside & then take warm showers inside. We ended up putting on our pajamas & spending the rest of the day indoors being lazy. Not exactly how we planned our last day of summer for Labor Day, but we enjoyed our day together. And I'm pretty sure we will appreciate the cooler temps & the rain that is in the forecast the rest of the week too!
