It's always weird having a holiday in the middle of the week, but that didn't stop us from having fun! Although I still I feel like I am recovering. I need a weekend to rest up from our holiday! We invited a few families over for a pool party & cookout & we had had perfect weather to celebrate outdoors:
Have I mentioned how much fun it is having older kids?! Especially around the pool:
But the kids weren't the only ones in there:
Bryan grilled an American favorite: hamburgers & hot dogs:
Eventually we dragged everyone out of the water because we had a little surprise for the kids:
The Goff's brought an entire backpack full of fireworks! We had our own show in the driveway & it might have been my favorite part of the night! We started with sparklers:
and worked our way through a wide assortment of firecrackers. Most of the kids loved them, except for a few who kept running back & forth to the front yard when they got scared. And Sophie. She hates fireworks so she stayed inside by herself with her baby blanket :( The rest of us had a great time!
As we were having our own firework show, we realized we were hearing something louder - the City of Frisco's firework display went off early this year & we weren't ready! We can't see them from our house, but we can around the corner by the open field so we ran over there as quickly as we could & luckily were able to still see most of them:
At least we were able to drag Sophie out this time since the fireworks were farther away. When we got home, the kids found 1 last surprise - poppers!
We had a little bit of a mess so we tried to make a pile with all of the trash & sprayed it off with the water hose:
By this time most of our friends had left, so the girls had fun playing in the water hose while Bryan sprayed them:
Of course it was a late night, but such a fun one! I've said it once & I'll say it again - I am really enjoying living life with older kids! We had a great time celebrating America's birthday.
