Well, it happened again. Our last weekend of spring soccer was supposed to be last weekend, but they scheduled make up games for this past weekend so it would have been our last. But of course it rained all day Thursday & Friday so soccer practice was cancelled Friday night & games were cancelled on Saturday, for both girls. What a disappointing way to end the season. I think they only played half of their games. I knew Relay for Life was scheduled for Friday night but since they normally practice & they were both supposed to have 8:00 games, I knew we wouldn't be able to stay long. We just planned on swinging by after practice to eat & walk a few laps in support of ACS but since our plans got cancelled, we were able to make a night of it:
Unfortunately, all of the rain dampened their plans also & they had to move the event inside & of course it was a much smaller crowd. The girls had a blast though! They ate, ran around & played all night:
They had a nice reception set up for survivors where each one was called up individually & given a survivor sash:
After the opening ceremony they had the survivor lap:
And since it was a smaller lap inside, Bryan was actually able to make it all the way around! Granted, he might have been a little slower than normal, but on the care giver lap all 3 of us joined him:
The girls also had fun making luminaria bags for their Dad & Doc:
And we had a great time dancing on the themed laps:
It ended up being such a fun night & I am secretly glad our plans changed so we could celebrate another relay with friends. We have really gotten to know a few people in our cancer community & we love celebrating with them every year. Not only do the girls have fun, but hopefully they are learning more about this awful disease that has touched so many of us. They really are Cancer Crushers for our family & friends!
Until next year!
