Mother's Day Weekend 2018

We had a beautiful weekend & we spent most of it outside. Starting with soccer practice Friday night:

They looked like twins that night in their matching outfits :)

Afterwards we grabbed dinner with a few other families & the kids had way too much fun:

Love all those Sweet Cleats, Stinky Cleats & Twinkle Toes!

Technically soccer should have ended in April, but then they scheduled make up games for last weekend but of course those were rained out so we thought the season was over but they rescheduled our games again. At least we finally got 6 games in out of an 8 game season & we ended on a high note with perfect weather:

They both had early games & Sophie gave me an early Mother's Day gift by scoring her first goal. We were so proud of her!

Later that afternoon the girls went to 2 birthday parties while I finished our landscaping projects around the house. First up, Sadie went with Hadley to a martial arts party for a boy in their class:

Then they went to Dottie's gymnastics birthday party:

My girls don't go to gymnastics anymore but they still talk about it all the time. Neither of them has been since their birthday party in December, but apparently Sadie was feeling gutsy because she busted out a flip off of the balance beam & scared everyone to death:

Don't ask me how I just happened to get a picture of it. Thank goodness she did not get hurt but she did get in trouble for trying something so dangerous without experience :(

On Sunday morning, they set up a photo booth for all of the moms at church. Apparently Sophie was not feeling it:

Last year we got a great picture of the 3 of us & this year Sophie looks like a deer in headlights. Thankfully we got a close up that is a little better but she still has this weird side smile:

After church they took me to lunch at the same restaurant where we have gone every year for Mother's Day & it was delicious. When we were leaving, our waiter gave me a single long stemmed red rose & the girls were so excited:

Later that afternoon, we celebrated at home. Since we have finally hit the 90's, our pool water is starting to warm up & we spent the afternoon lounging in the backyard:

I think the pool temperature was 83 & the girls thought it felt great, but I thought it was still a little cool, so I spent the afternoon in the hot tub! But I can officially say the Dodson pool is open for summer  - umbrellas open, pillows out, flowers planted, & floats in the pool. I have a feeling we will start spending a lot of time out here from now on. Cheers to a relaxing Mother's Day with my family!
