FASST Swim Camp 2018

Now that it is May, we are full steam ahead towards summer. I can't believe Sophie only has 6 days of school left & Sadie only has 4 weeks left. All of our school activities are slowing down while some of our summer activities are picking up. Sadie's first swim meet is in 2 weeks & they officially started swim camp last night:

She is practicing twice a week for 1 hour each. Kind of a lot for a girl in kindergarten, especially since practices are from 6:30 - 7:30 at night. I was a little nervous how she would do at night & how she would do in the pool, but she did amazing:

They divided the kids by age & she is swimming with 5 & 6 year olds. On her first night, there were 8 kids in her group & she was the only girl:

I thought she might get tired since she has never swam in a pool this big or for an hour at a time, but she really surprised us:

They concentrated on diving, the freestyle & backstrokes since those are the only 2 strokes they will be competing with at this age. When school gets out their real coaches will be here but they are all in college right now, so they have high school volunteers helping coach right now:

I will admit I am scared & nervous about this new adventure. It is a big commitment & I was kind of hoping she would realize that she just wanted to swim for fun, but I think we have a serious swimmer on our hands. Guess we will see how she does when we have to be at the natatorium at 6:45 in the morning for her first meet!
