Last night Sadie's school had their spring open house & art show:
To be honest, I kind of thought the open house wasn't necessary but Sadie had fun. They took us on a tour & showed us her class room & where are her special classes are: art, library, music, PE, etc. We technically did this in the fall so this was nothing new, but we did have fun visiting her class room & getting to see some of her work:
They made a book of poems that they read to us, then we walked around the room & she read us all of her wall words, which are basically her site words we practice at home. We found a poem wall with her name poem on there:
Then she chose one of the books from her reading basket & she had story time with us:
She was so proud to read to us by herself:
But my favorite part of the night was the art show. She has been talking for the past month about a special piece of art she has been making at school in art class. Well apparently every year they frame they art & display them in the cafeteria & the parents can buy it. Most of my friends with older kids say that it is fun to buy every year & then have a place in your house where you hang them all. We were so proud when we saw Sadie's rainbow fish:
Apparently all of the kindergarteners did the same thing:
This couldn't have been a better theme for Sadie since she is obsessed with the ocean! Right now we just have her art propped up on the mantle in our living room but I can't wait to figure out where I am going to start my new art wall! I look forward to seeing both of their paintings in the years to come:
