Originally we were told that their wedding would be outside. Granted, the wedding ceremony itself would be short, but we were told to bundle up & bring hand & foot warmers. I am sure it would have been beautiful outside in the snow on the side of the a mountain, but it was literally 20 degrees outside. Thank goodness, they decided to move it inside instead so we didn't have to bundle up as much as we thought:
They got married at a beautiful ski lodge & the ceremony ended up being inside by the fireplace. It was kind of romantic hearing the crackling of the fire during their ceremony & still seeing the snow outside the windows behind them. They also had decorated the trees in Christmas lights outside & they were beautiful! I made Bryan step outside for a few minutes just to get a picture:
They had a cocktail reception in one of the side rooms before we sat down for dinner in the main room. I couldn't help but take a picture of the fondue cheese - they literally had big blocks of cheese by the fire & it would melt on to your plate. It was the coolest thing I had never seen before:
When we headed into the main dining room, I took a few more pictures of the décor. I wondered what kind of theme they would go with since it was the week of Christmas, but they stayed away from your typical Christmas theme & did more of a winter mountain theme & it was beautiful. Lots of flowers, pine cones, glitter & candles in cream & gold colors:
Another favorite - the dessert fondue station! They had a huge table set up with all kinds of dessert for dipping & again, had milk chocolate, white chocolate & caramel melting by the fire:
This might have been the first time I have gone to a wedding & not eaten wedding cake!
Their dinner menu was very different also & went with the theme of the evening:
I wish I would have gotten a picture of the couple during the ceremony because she looked beautiful. Bryan kept saying she looked like Elsa with her long blonde pony tail & fur coat. The only picture I got of them was during their first dance:
After this, they opened up the dance floor where we spent the rest of our night! I love dancing & we had such a fun evening with all of their friends & family:
We had such a great time & loved meeting all of Deborah's family. I am so happy for these 2 & cannot wait for them to start their new life together. Joel is one of our last friends to get married & I am so excited to have a new friend join us at our future longhorn football games. Especially our road trips so it's not just me & the boys anymore!
Cheers to Joel & Deborah!
