Since Bryan's brother Tim & his family were in from Colorado this week, we decided to invite the Dodson family over for a cookout & pool party. I thought it was a perfect time to celebrate the 4th of July holiday, Sherry's retirement & Bryan's 40th birthday! In honor of all of these occasions, I had a cake made:
I decided to stick with the patriotic theme for the holiday weekend but I had a tier made for each of them with their name & then she personalized Bryan's with his age & a Longhorn & then she decorated Sherry's with her company's logo & flowers. I thought she tied it together perfectly with a D on top:
It turned out so cute & tasted delicious!
We had a great turnout & almost everyone in his family came. The girls absolutely loved spending time with their cousins:
Bryan grilled hot dogs & hamburgers & we had traditional American food in honor of the holiday:
It rained over night & all morning but finally stopped by lunchtime. Thankfully the rain came along with a cool front so it ended up being perfect weather outside. The pool was a little chilly but that never stops the kids! But we heated the spa & I'm pretty sure they enjoyed jumping in there & warming up:
The girls loved jumping & swimming with their older cousins:
Even Sophie jumped off with the big kids. With & without her noodle!
We celebrated Sherry & Bryan:
and opened presents:
In case you didn't notice the big 4-0 on his cake, Bryan is turning 40 in a few weeks! We have a big trip planned this month & we will be gone on his birthday so I thought it was good timing to celebrate his birthday early since his family was all together. We had a great weekend & honestly my favorite part was just looking around & seeing everyone eating, visiting & laughing together:
We are so thankful to have such an amazing family & are fortunate that most of them live close enough to see often. I am thrilled Sherry has finally retired & we are looking forward to celebrating Bryan's birthday on the beach!
We had a great time, thanks for hosting!
