We have been busy this week learning all about God & his creation underneath the ocean! All 3 of us went to VBS at First Baptist every morning from 9:00 - 12:30. Technically I had to be there from 8:00 - 1:00 but the girls didn't mind going early or staying longer. You don't really get to go until kindergarten, but they offer VBS for the pre-school kids as long as a parent volunteers & the girls have so much fun, it is worth my time!
We have actually gone up there several times for the past 2 months helping to decorate & work on curriculum:
This year's theme, Submerged, was perfect for our 2 girls! These 2 love the ocean & anything that has to do with it :) We had fun decorating with submarines, fish, octopus, sting rays, etc. Thank goodness for Pinterest because that's where we stole most of our ideas! Even for snacks:
See how we made our ordinary paper cup into a beach bucket? And our twinkie into a submarine?
The fun thing about volunteering is that I get to pop in & see the girls every now & then. I help on the pre-school side with snacks, lunch, crafts, etc. so I got to help Sophie with arts & crafts:
Sophie's best friend from Sonshine School was also there so they were so excited to see each other again:
I even got to watch the girls participate in music class:
This was Sadie's favorite part of the day! She came home talking about it every afternoon. They have some awesome music where they show videos & learn dance moves to it. She was so proud of herself!
She even got picked to help be the music leader while I was there! We even bought the cd so I officially have every word memorized to every song since I have only heard them 495 times this week!
Their other favorite part was the themed dress up days. One day they had crazy sock day:
Crazy hair day:
I put my hair in pig tail buns & Sadie thought it was so funny since she had never seen my hair fixed like this before! And she was very specific with her hair - she wanted 2 pony tails on either side of her head, 1 high & 1 low. Sophie had about 4 pony tails/buns going to several mismatching bows. I should have taken a picture of the back of their heads!
We even had hat day:
Finally, dress like a sea creature day:
I didn't have the time to be that creative so Sadie got to be Ariel. Technically mermaids swim in the sea, right?
We had such a fun week! Loved getting to see our friends, the girls thought it was awesome they got hot dogs, pizza & lunchables for lunch all week! But most of all, I love to see them learning about God!
