Princess Jasmine

The girls lucked out this year & got Easter cards from both of their grand-grandmothers with $5 in it plus they found a few Easter eggs with money it. All total, they had about $25 from Easter & apparently, it has been burning a hole in Sadie's pocket :) In the past, if they have been given large amounts of money, we put it in their savings account. If they have gotten small amounts of money (dollar bills, coins, etc.) we put it in their piggy bank. This was the first time she did not want to put it in her piggy bank - she wanted to go shopping!

I have been asking her for the past week what she wanted & have given her some ideas & she was all over the place. We had to go to the mall on Saturday to run an errand for Bryan & while we were there, she saw the Disney store & just knew that was it:

As soon as we walked in, she gravitated towards the Princess Jasmine outfit. She fell in love with Jasmine & Aladdin when we met them at Disney World & then she got the movie for her birthday. She practically has every other outfit except for this one, so that's probably the other reason why she wanted it. I really had to explain to her that it cost $50 & she only had $25. Technically, she only had half of that, because the other half was Sophie's, but I knew they could share whatever they picked out. Thank goodness I talked her out of the flip flops, sunglasses, stuffed animals & every other thing that we already have plenty of. She ended up picking an Aladdin book because it came with the audio book cd. She has the audio book cd of Sleeping Beauty & they love listening to it in the car, so I thought this was the perfect gift for both of them! And they were having a sale so she got the Jasmine doll:

It ended up bring a great teachable moment about finances & sharing! Plus, she was so proud of herself! She carried the money around in her purse & she checked out at the cash register all by herself. Well, I may have helped her with the money a little :)
