Since my family came to visit last weekend for the girls' birthday party, we decided to celebrate Christmas together. My mom surprised us Friday night with a trip to The North Pole Express. I have always heard about it, but we hadn't done it yet, so I was excited for the girls to experience it, especially with their cousins & their grandparents.
The North Pole Express, is loosely based on the book & movie, Polar Express. Grapevine is considered the Christmas Capital of Texas & they have a train that runs through Main Street. We loaded up on the train & the conductor checked our tickets before we took off:
Oh yeah, did I mention that we all wore our pajamas?! The train ride itself wasn't that exciting as far as the view (thank goodness it was night time) but the train was decorated very festive & they had Christmas music playing which added to the atmosphere. The kids absolutely loved the train ride even though we really didn't see anything:
Before we stopped at the North Pole, Mrs. Clause entered the train & passed out silver bells to all of the children who believed:
When we arrived at the North Pole, we walked through a Christmas tree pathway where it was snowing until we found our way to Santa's Shop:
Once inside, they had the cutest show with Santa & some of his elves. They even let the kids sit right up front by the stage & when Santa came out, he shook all of their hands:
Santa had Frosty Chocolate Snow Milk that he passed out to all of the kids & Sadie was first lucky child to get one:
It was basically chocolate milk, which Sadie doesn't like, but she thought the mug was cool so we have a set of matching mugs at home for the girls now.
When we were leaving, we saw a station where you would write a letter to Santa. Sadie had already written a couple so by now, she has it figured out:
We had such a fun evening & it was an experience we will always remember! There are so many fun Christmas things to do around town & I'm thankful that we got to try something new this year & experience it with my family. Thank you Mimi & Doc for spoiling your grandkids!
