Big Girl Car Seat

We got Sophie a convertible car seat for her birthday & we finally put it in our cars last weekend. We were going to before Christmas, but she got so sick & was throwing up so much, I didn't want her to ruin her new seat. Let me tell you, I used our infant car seat with Sadie & she spit up a lot, but I was able to keep it looking pretty good. Most people thought it was brand new when I put it in the car when Sophie was born. Not this time, that girl has thrown up in the car so much that I am glad to part with it:

Doesn't she look like such a big girl sitting in her new seat?! And I know what some of you are thinking - isn't she supposed to be facing the rear? It depends on who you ask. Technically, they recommend you sit rear facing until they are 2. That's what our pediatrician recommends also. But this girl was arching her back & fighting us so hard every time we put her in the car. She was fine once we got her strapped in, but as soon as she saw that she was going in it, she would go crazy. And she was practically breaking her neck trying to turn around or watch Sadie. And then the vomiting. It would get all over the seat & was so hard to clean. So I gave up the battle & at 13 months we turned her around:

This was last Sunday morning on our way to church. It was her first ride & she didn't make a peep. In fact, she was excited to get in the car, which was a first! She enjoyed looking out the window, looking at mom, dad & Sadie. We have actually driven all week & not once has she cried or gotten upset. And I bought a car seat protector that she is sitting on which will help when she gets sick in the car. And hopefully, my seat will stay clean & she will only tag the floorboard.

And this girl hardly falls asleep in the car, but her new seat must have been so comfortable it lulled her away:

Isn't she the sweetest little thing?!
