Turkey Trot 2014

We woke up early on Thanksgiving morning to join over 6,000 other people to run the North Texas Turkey Trot. Bryan's cousin Jennifer joined us again along with his parents. Bryan & Jennifer ran the 10k, I ran the 5k & the Bryan's parents walked the miracle mile with the girls:

It looks cold in the picture but it really wasn't too bad. When we left the house it was in the upper 30's but by the time we were finishing our races it was in the 40's. At least is was sunny & not much wind, but I still had the girls bundled up :) Sadie is a pro at races now & she loves it. This was Sophie's first turkey trot & I think she was just along for the ride:

Obviously they finished walking the mile first so they waited at the finish line for the rest of us. Bryan & I both had personal goals we were trying to beat since we didn't run with the girls & our hard work paid off because we both broke them:

It really is fun to get up & run on Thanksgiving morning. Something about the holiday spirit & all of the families that are there together. Plus, I didn't feel nearly as guilty when I indulged in 2 Thanksgiving meals later that day :)

Hopefully the tradition will continue for years to come!
