Summer Camp

Earlier this spring I started researching activities for Sadie to do this summer because things quickly slowed down when MOPS, Sonshine School & swimming lessons ended. Obviously there are tons of things to do around town that we will be taking advantage of including the Cinemark summer movies, story time at the library, swimming, splash pads & so much more, but I was trying to find something specifically for Sadie. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot you can do until you are 3 years old & she is only 2 1/2. Finally I found a summer camp at My Gym that is only a half day & it runs every Tuesday & Thursday for the entire summer. We have been to several birthday parties there & I took Sadie a few times to classes when she was much younger, but we haven't been there in a while. It is a gym that is geared for more social toddler interaction than structured classes. The camp lets them run around & play at the facility, but it also includes snacks, art class, music class, story time & so much more. For the price, I thought it was worth it! I thought twice a week was a little much so I signed her up for every Thursday we are in town & today was her first class. She was so excited this morning because Bryan & I kept telling her she was going to camp!

As soon as we got there they directed us to her cubby which was really a bench divided into sections with a name tag for them. We were instructed to leave their bags & their shoes/socks at their cubby:

On top of the bench was a long table that separated the seating area from the gym area. We were also told to put her drink up there so the kids could go get something to drink anytime they wanted. It was kind of crazy to see that many cups sitting up there but they were all labeled & at this age most kids are pretty good about only grabbing their own cup.

I stayed around the for the first 10 minutes just to see how she would do:

Apparently she didn't need me - she ran right out there & started playing!

I told Bryan it was kind of sad dropping her off at a completely new place with new teachers & new students. There were actually 25 kids there, so I didn't want her to be overwhelmed. Boy was I wrong!

When I came back to get her, it was so cute. All of the kids were sitting on the bench above their cubby. She already had her shoes on & was holding her bag with the biggest smile on her face :) It was evident she had a great time & she couldn't stop talking about it the whole way home. I am so glad we found an activity for her this summer so she can get out of the house, away from me as she continues to learn & develop with new friends. And I'm not going to lie - it was easier to make my weekly trip to Wal-Mart without her :)
