We met with a friend last Friday to have a play date at:
We thought we were being smart by going during the school year before the summer crowds hit. And we thought the temperature might be cooler in May. We were wrong on both accounts. As soon as we got close to the zoo, I knew something was up because I saw about 50 school buses on the freeway backing up traffic for the zoo exit :( Apparently since it is the end of school & testing is over, all of the schools were sending their kids on field trips. And it was really hot out there. Oh-well, we survived & still had fun! We live about 45 minutes away from Rachel & Colt, so we don't get together with them very often:
Sadie loved running around & seeing all of the animals. Poor kids got trampled a few times & pushed out of the way by the bigger kids, but that didn't stop Sadie from having a good time:
One of her favorite parts of the day was riding the monorail. It was relaxing & a great way to see all of the animals in their natural habitat:
Sophie like the monorail so much it put her to sleep:
Poor thing - she looked so cute but she got so hot sitting in her car seat all day. I did take her out to play & feed her while we had our picnic:
Her poor head was covered in sweat & her dress was completely wet in the back. I have a feeling it's going to be a long summer for her!
These two kiddos played & fought just like brother & sister. One minute they were having a blast together:
And then they started fighting:
Apparently both of them are learning how to share :( And Colt was obsessed with Sophie. He kept wanting to touch her & kiss her & Sadie did not like it. She would get very possessive & try to push him away saying "My baby, my baby!". I have never seen Sadie act like that?!
Besides their one little catfight, the day we went smoothly & we enjoyed our trip. Hopefully next time it won't be so crowded so we can do & see more. Thanks again for inviting us Rachel!
