Last week Bryan went to Boston for work & Sadie didn't have school all week so I loaded up the girls for Sophie's first road trip! Most of our friends/neighbors were also out of town & since we had nothing going on, I knew I would be bored out of my mind at home all week :( Luckily it's only a 3 hour drive to my parent's house, so we hit the road & headed down to Conroe. My mom got to spend time with the girls in Provo, but my Dad hadn't seen Sophie since January, so he was excited to have his time with the girls. Our first day there, I took advantage of both of my parents being home & they spent the day with the girls while I had my own day to myself - shopping! It was so relaxing being able to shop all day & run errands without my two little distractions :)
The next day, my Mom had to work so we spent the day hanging out with my Dad. He wanted to take Sadie to:
It was a mad house, but we still had fun. Check out the line just to get in! Guess that's where everyone decided to go for spring break :( Once we got inside, it wasn't too bad. I had to feed Sophie, so I missed out on some of the game playing, but from what I saw, Sadie had a blast & Doc was busy chasing her around!
We eventually caught up with them & Sophie was mesmerized by all of the lights & sounds. Check her out in the blue light:
When we got home, Sadie took a good nap because she had exerted a lot of energy but Sophie got to spend some time cuddling with Doc:
The next day, my Mom actually went out of town because she had already planned a trip with her girl friends, but Doc had another surprise for Sadie: a trip to the park!
She discovered the rock climbing wall & she actually tackled it pretty good! And she liked the slides at first, but then decided it was more fun just going up & down the stairs. What's up with that?! And of course she liked the swings. She started with the safe swing & then worked her way to the big swing. This is officially the first time she has really gotten to swing in the big swing by herself:
And while we were in Conroe, we had a special visit from my parent's friends, Jimmy & Sharon Bruce. Sharon reads my blog & Natalie's blog religiously so she always likes to keep with our children. She had seen pictures of Sophie but this was the first time she got to meet her:
Sharon - Thanks for coming by to visit & thanks for keeping up with my blog! At least I know someone else is looking at it besides my family :)
Probably my favorite part about going to Conroe is spending time outside. The weather was still a little cool, but we tried to go out there as much as possible. Sadie just loves following my Dad around outside as they pull weeds, pick up branches, feed the squirrels & the birds, etc. And these two sisters spent some quality time bonding together on the back porch:
Thanks Mimi & Doc for letting us crash with you for Spring Break! Mom, sorry we didn't get to spend as much time with you, but Dad, we enjoyed seeing you!
You're so sweet to mention us. The girls are
ReplyDeleteadorable. Love you guys!
Thanks for coming home. I definitely had fun with the girls and visiting with you. Sadie will keep you hopping.
