Earlier this week, Sadie went in for her Doc-Band Fitting. As usual, she thought I took her somewhere fun to play. Here is her before picture:
And here she is after:
It never bothered her once - she just kept on playing! We had to wait in the room for about 30 minutes before we could go home because they wanted to make sure that her skin didn't have a reaction. Also, they checked on her several times to see if the band was moving. They had to make a couple adjustments around her eyes & her ears. The past 48 hours have been kind of a trial run - she would wear it for 3-4 hours & then we would take it off for an hour. There are definite red marks when you take it off, but the goal is the redness should go away during that one hour time period. Since we haven't had any problems, we let her sleep in it last night. I can honestly say that I am pleasantly surprised that she hasn't really noticed it all. She still eats, plays, sleeps, etc. like normal. The band only weighs 6 ounces though, so I guess it's not too heavy. Now that she is past her trial period, she will wear this for 23 hours a day. We can take it off for 1 hour a day so we can bathe her & clean the band. I have already learned that she will be getting more baths than she used to because that poor girl is covered in sweat when I take the band off :( I guess that's to be expected since it's almost 100 degrees outside everyday! Hopefully she will only have to wear it for 2 months, but it will depend on how fast her head grows & whether she hits a growth spurt or not.
Of course I couldn't leave her band plain white - that's boring, right? My main goal was to figure out how I could incorporate her bows. A lot of people also put their names on there, but Bryan didn't want the whole world to know she was. And I was more concerned about the colors I use on her helmet matching her outfit...... So, I decided to bedazzle it with crystal stickers. That way it is girly, but will still match all of her bows & outfits!
They aren't the best pictures, but I was trying to capture the band from all sides. Sadie however didn't want to cooperate - she wanted to look at the camera the whole time! I'm sure I will re-decorate from time to time & I even told Bryan that if she still has on the helmet during football season, I will decorate it in burnt orange for the Texas Longhorns!
