Sadie's Nursery

In case you haven't figured it out by now (or heard it through the grapevine) our little girl is set to be named Sadie. I was trying to keep it a secret, but you will probably figure it out from the pictures below. At least we will keep her middle name a secret for a few more days.....

Bryan & I have had fun fixing up her nursery over the past few months. We finally got it finished a few weeks ago & I couldn't wait to share the pictures! Enjoy!

This is the first thing you see when you come up the stairs & look down the hallway to her room. We have a fabulous painter who designed this mural & painted it from hand. Bryan & I basically told her our vision & she brought it to life! This will actually be a growth chart when she gets older. We have some wooden leaves that are painted & will be added to the wall every 6 months. On the leave, we will print her height & the date. That way if we ever move or if she gets tired of the mural & wants to paint over it, we can take the leaves down & keep them. The only thing missing on the mural is some bling - the painter is coming back to add some crystal embellishments. By the way, the painter we used is Jennifer Tennill of Tesoro Designs & we love her! She has done some other projects in our house & would totally recommend her to anyone in the DFW area.

This is what you see when you actually walk into the room. Bryan & I decided to go with white furniture once we found out we were having a girl. My parents bought us the rocker/glider chair & I am sure it will be put to good use!

We also knew right away that we wanted a chandelier, but we didn't want to put it in the center of the room because we wanted to keep a fan in there, so we figured why not have 2 chandeliers & frame the crib since that will be our focal wall?!

I have to brag a little & confess that I actually made these letters! We were going to order some, but everyone kept telling me I could make them. If you look up close, they aren't perfect, but I had a fun time making them & I think they turned out OK! Especially for someone who is not very crafty.....

Here is a close up of her crib bedding. We always knew we wanted something custom made & we had a fun time picking the colors, the fabric, etc. We basically designed it first & decorated the rest of the room around it. We were fortunate that her bedding was a gift from Bryan's parents.

This is the entrance from her bedroom into her bathroom. In case you are wondering what that zebra print is at the top right hand corner of the picture......

That's right ladies & gentlemen - it is a longhorn! The one & only request Bryan has had since we found out we were having a girl :)

Her bathroom was accessorized with a little help from friends & family. The candle chandelier my Mom picked up at an antique store years ago & she has been waiting to have a grand daughter so someone could hang it! The topiary tree was made by my friend Catherine for one of my showers and the ribbon holder was made by my sister, Natalie.

Natalie also found a cute ribbon holder on-line & she sent me a copy of it. Luckily my Mom was in town a few weeks ago & she helped me make it. Not bad, huh? Although I think we need to work on her bow collection because I don't know if she has one for every outfit just yet.....

These are some more accessories from my sister. She gave us the lamp & she made both of the black picture frames. Let me tell you - she is the crafty one in the family! And I am glad she had 2 boys so she could use all of her creative girl energy on Sadie!

The step stool & matching piggy bank were also a surprise gift that I loved! They came from a good family friend of my Mother-n-law.

Finally, this is a peak at her closet. Bryan put together the IKEA shelf for me & I bought all of the baskets to help organize & store her books, toys, shoes, etc. As you can see, we also have his & her diaper bags :) And in case you were wondering, the pictures of her clothes are for the future - 3 month thru 12 month. I think she has plenty to wear next spring & summer! And if you are wondering what the glittery blob of orange & white tulle is at the top of her closet, that is the longhorn tutu my sister made!

Hope you enjoyed all of the pictures of her room & sorry for the long blog post & lots of commentary! I wanted to make sure that I gave thanks to everyone who helped us a long the way. Only a few more days & hopefully we will get to bring Sadie home to her new room.....

  1. Shaye!! I have been waiting for you to slip up and put her name on here for weeks (Weeks!), but finally gave up and just got something else monogrammed instead. Her room is super cute and so totally you and know you can't wait to meet her-
