Life Lately - August

You've pretty much seen our life lately because these girls have been busy with back to school, soccer & cheerleading! But we've done a few other things this month, like volunteering with the Miracle League again:

We had done basketball before but this time we helped with soccer!

Sadie had a few more doctor appointments before school started:

I've had fun celebrating back to school with my girlfriends also:

We are enjoying our last few nights in the pool with friends before our fall schedule really kicks off after Labor Day:

Finally, the girls got invited to a big 13th birthday party downtown:

Technically, the party was for Sadie's friends, but the birthday girl's little sister just happens to be one of Sophie's besties, so she got invited too:

This was her first official boy-girl party. I'm not sure if I am ready for that yet, but I guess that's what happens when kids start turning 13! They had a blast eating, singing & dancing all night:

Clearly Sophie had no problem fitting in with the older girls!

They got these fun hats as party favors before they left:

After all of the older kids left, Sophie got to spend the night at the hotel with Blake & these might be some of my favorite pictures of the night:

They had a party bus on the way home & I found a few more selfies on Sadie's phone:

Clearly the girls had a fun night & what a fun way to kick off the school year with their friends!

Lady Gator Volleyball

Soccer may be Sadie's first love, but her second is volleyball & now that she is in 7th grade, she is finally old enough to play. Try outs started the 2nd day of school & by the end of the week, they cut around 40 girls. Sadie was so excited she made the cut! She brought a friend home & we celebrated that night:

We already had the sign, but I surprised her & had the volleyball when she came home. We took the girls out to dinner that night to celebrate & then it was Pink's spirit night at Handel's so of course we celebrated again with ice cream:

The next week we had 2 more days of try outs before they posted which team the girls made & she was so excited to find out she made the A team! Volleyball may not be her main sport like other girls, but she is a hard worker & loves the game so we were so proud of her!

I found out the same day she made A team, that I was one of the volleyball team moms also. I frantically met the other 2 moms & we came up with a plan to decorate the locker to surprise the girls before their first game:

They had their first scrimmage Thursday night & I was surprised when I walked into the gym for the B & C teams to find her calling lines:

Then it was game time! You could tell she was nervous but eventually she relaxed & just had fun playing with her friends:

Obviously she is a defensive back row player. They don't 100% have positions yet but she would love to be a libero:

and her serves were on point!

Afterwards we celebrated with a few of her friends:

before heading to Andy's for ice cream!

I have a feeling it's going to be a fun season & a change of pace from being outdoors at soccer all the time!
